Nieuw Amsterdam - August 2010 The Mediterranean

2010 Cruise Trip

The trip was fantastic. As usual, we all wished it could have lasted longer but reality must set in some time right.

My mom says that if someone would pay for her she would do it again next week.

The flight straight through to Barcelona was good; smooth and without incident. The chauffeur service to pick us up at the airport was outside waiting for us when we got there with the meet and greet sign (I was told). Due to the fact that one of my daughter’s suitcases was not on our flight and it took some time to track it down and the service couldn’t wait any longer. After about a 2 hour wait at the airport they baggage service was finally able to track it down. Needless to say, I was happy about that because I normally put a bit of each persons clothing in one suitcase for the same reason, but this time we each had our suitcases assigned to one person. I’ll know better for next time.

We all did the City Tour of Barcelona on the Big Blue Bus where one could have hopped on and off for the day. The sights were nice to see.

After the tour everyone decided to go back to the hotel. I really wanted to do a little more touring so my family and I decided to tackle a trip to Tibidabo.
Mr. Fielder and Rachel decided to join us. Fortunately there was an underground train station just across the road from Hotel Regina and so we went there and caught the train to Av. Tibidabo station. We got off there and it took us some time to figure out where to go next until we saw a sign with a trolley train going up. So we joined a little line to wait for the next train. That ride was about fifteen minutes where we got off to a restaurant. We thought that that was it but there was noting here but the restaurant. Off to the left we saw a sign which said Funicular in a kind off rail way station. So we walked over and it was here that the funicular would take you up to the amusement part. Of course at each point there was a cost. I think it cost about 12-15 euro each for the entire trip. Entrance to the park was free but you had to purchase tickets for rides. It was worth the trip. The girls were in awe. It is just amazing to see this amusement park practically ‘on top of the world’ as the girls put it. The view was spectacular. We all had a ball, the cotton candy, the slush, the popcorn, all of it. There was also a church up there that we got to visit inside and light a candle. I was glad we decided to go and sorry that the others had to miss it.

Rafa at the Hotel Regina was very helpful in answering all of my questions including the arrangements for the chauffeur service. After I had told him my name he was like ‘oh yes, I know all about everything, I was the one speaking with Jana Bethel.’ He was in contact with the chauffeur service and they were on time for the pick up from the hotel to the cruise terminal. The breakfast at the Regina was excellent. It was a full breakfast menu, scrambled egg, sausages, bacon, toast, cereal, bagels, hot cocoa, tea, coffee. OJ; the works. We really enjoyed it. The rooms were also nice. Clean and very spacious. Big bathrooms. There was a McDonalds and Burger King about an 8min walk around the corner. Starbucks was even closer.

Boarding the ship was smooth sailing. Because our pick-up time was 2pm at eh hotel, we got to the terminal about 2:30pm. By that time there was hardly anyone in the terminal to check-in. Boarding of the ship started at 11:00am apparently. So it was good time for us, we put away our small hand luggage and went straight to lunch.

On the lido we were being served everything by the ship attendants as so we thought, wow, now this is service, right up to the tea and juices. Having only been on Carnival Cruises this was all new to us. We were kind-off pleased and not so pleased (mixed feelings) about the whole thing especially not being able to make your own tea but we got used to it quickly.  Upon actual debarkation, during the emergency drill, the cruise director announced why they were taking the extra precaution in serving guests to prevent the outbreak of food poisoning; vomiting and diarrhea as one of the previous cruises had that problem. So this was to be carried on for the first few days of the cruise. After the fourth day, it was free for all with the exception of the entrees which was served straight through. The food was fabulous. They always had wonderful choices. There was a ‘Taste of the Orient” section every day and we truly enjoyed that because we love shrimp fried rice.

We booked four tours with cruise ship on the second day and one that we wanted was already sold out so we had to go with our second choice for the Monaco. So it pays to book early to get what you want.

We did the Highlights of Monaco and Monte Carlo. We were satisfied with the tour. We got to see the famous Monte Carlo Casino (10 euro for entrance). It was beautiful. The lifestyle of the population was a sight to see. All we saw here in this area were Mercedes, BMWs, Lexus, Bentleys, only fancy cars. Unbelievable. Then we went on a little walking tour of the old streets for some shopping, a visit to the church where Princess Grace’s tomb lies to see her tomb.

Next day was Livorno. As we did not book a tour for here everyone kind-of did a little something on their own. My family and I (including my mother) took the shuttle service into the town square (4 euro rt, kids free). The square was not too big and not too much to see so we went to the information booth where we got dropped off by the shuttle to check on doing a tour. Here we were able to secure a boat tour of the Harbor and surrounding city area along with a bus ride to the Pisa. The cost was 20 euro adults 10 euro children. We found this to be an excellent price considering the booking for the Pisa and Lucca on the ship was around $99/$79 kids. We enjoyed this trip and were glad that we went. At first my mother wasn’t even coming off of the ship. But after I told her that she really shouldn’t come this far just to stay on the ship and not see any thing or take some pictures for memories she decided to accompany us reluctantly. She even said that she was vey glad that she decided to come with us.

We toured Civitavecchia on our own. Simon and Michelle caught a train into Rome not too far from the ships port they said for about twenty something Euros I think they said. I really wanted to go myself but nobody else wanted the long ride especially with the kids so we just toured the area on our own. Very Hot. Found some good bargains.

In Messina we did the Scenic Mt. Etna Tour. Do not do this tour if you are afraid of heights. We found out the Dorsette, Z. Rolle, J. Rolle and G. Fielder are afraid of heights. They could not do too much looking out of the window during the drive up to the Volcano. They were fine once we got to the top. It was very cool (light sweater) and a sight to see. Nice shopping up here. Had to pay .50 cent euro to tow a long line to use the restroom (only one up here). Beautiful jewelery made form the lava rock. Got to see inside a crater and chip some lava rock for souvenir. The only thing I didn’t like about this tour was that it took about one hour and thirty minutes to get here and we only had roughly fifty minutes to tour the area before the motor coach was ready to head back to the ship. Would have like a little more time to sit and have a cup of tea and toured the area more leisurely. After all, trying to use the restroom took about fifteen-twenty minutes. That was half the time.

Nafplion, Greece was very hot. By the time we got to get off the ship persons were already coming back on saying how hot it was and that there was nothing to see there. So we decided to leave the kids onboard the ship with mom and My Ferguson and I went to at least take some photos. We actually walked by the beach area, just to see, we then decided to walk up to Palmidi Castle. Phew! Talk about a work-out. At first we were just walking up these stairs not knowing where we were going and was about to quit. But after we realized what was at the top and that this was an actual tour offered by the cruise line, we decided to trek it out. Only to be done by the fit individual in proper footwear. Luckily we both had on tennis shoes. We were glad we, left the kids because we could not have done this with them. The view at the top was spectacular. Going down was easy but after it all we were dripping in sweat. We also visited a Greek church, a little art gallery and the town square, bought the girls some Greek clothing and a few other souvenirs. What was amazing to us was that in the church, the visitors, who mostly seemed to be town folk, paid the utmost respect to Christ. They did the sign of the cross before entering and upon leaving. Inside the church where ever they saw a picture of baby Jesus and his mother they would kiss the picture. And this happened several times during ones visit. For each picture passed this was done. We assumed it was their culture.

We toured Katakolon on our own as well. Basically the same.

Did a tour in Corfu/Kerkira. Another place if you are afraid of heights do not do the panoramic Corfu. Very, very high. The streets here were so narrow they had traffic lights in some areas for only one lane of traffic to flow at a time. In the bus, if you put your hands out of the window, you can practically get a glass of water from the person living in the houses. It was really a sight to see and certainly an experience. During all of these Greece stops we were able to see the olive groves. In this city, we saw pomegranates, peach and apples. They have good soil. When we got to the top we were able to do some shopping for trinkets and souvenirs. This was by far the best of buys. Things were inexpensive including stuff like table coverings and scarves, cups, jewelery boxes etc…

We did not book a tour in Croatia because everyone had this preconception about bombing and shooting not too sure how it was going to be. So some persons stayed on the ship but we decided to take the shuttle bus into the old town ($8us) The fielders accompanied us. It was quite enjoyable and clean. Very, very crowded. The crowds were unbelievable. It was very expensive. They used a different currency the Kuna or something like that and I strongly believe that we got jipped in the conversion from the euro to this. But all in all, the walk through the Old Town was good.

Venice was our last stop. We did the Murano, Burano Tours and a few of us stopped of at St. Marks Square on the way back while the older folks continued onto the ship. The glass making on Murano was a sight to see. We were able to watch a craftsman make a vase with a myriad of colors from start to finish. It was beautiful. Then we toured the glass factory and shop. The work of art was out of this world and so were the prices. Hundreds of thousands of dollars for chandeliers and vases, but they were soooo beautiful. WE were able to buy some glad trinkets from a little store just on the side of the factory for much cheaper price.

The lace factory was equally as beautiful. We saw an old lady making a piece of lace tablecloth by hand. So as you would imagine this was very costly. WE were able to purchase handkerchiefs for about 3.50 euro  to 8 euro depending on the artwork.

There were beautiful smock and lace dresses for little girls and jumpers for boys. Further up in the town the prices on the lace items were cheaper.

The stop in St. Marks Square was also nice. WE did not go on a Gondola ride but were able to view close up. By this time it was already 7pm and so we did not want to chance it at this hour before visiting the actual square. Apart from that the waters were very choppy and a few of us, especially myself suffer from motion sickness on a small boat like that. But we were able to take some photos. We were in kind-off a rush at this point so as not to get back to the ship too late. We had to take the water bus to a particular stop (the name escapes me at the moment). We were told exactly were to get on and off by the tour operator of the Murano/Burano Tour. So we followed these instructions only to get off to this stop and not know where to go next. After doing some inquiry, we were told that we could have caught a free shuttle back to the ship across another little square. After a 5min walk we arrived at the shuttle buses only to find out that Holland America did not have a free shuttle but or any bus at all so the gentle who relayed this information to us was willing to take us on his shuttle bus, Regency Cruises back to their ship which was docked right next to our ship for a little tip of course. Well by this time it was about 9:30pm and we just wanted to get back on the ship for a bath and a meal. So we waited until he was ready and they took us to the ship and we had to sneak the next way to our ship but was grateful for the ride which was about 15mins.

The next day was off the ship. We choose the late departure option which allowed us to stay on the ship until 8:45-9am. Everything went well. We were able to have breakfast and leisurely leave this ship. Because of this time I had to contact Book-A limo to arrange an earlier pick up time as there was not too much waiting room at the terminal for a large group with luggage like us. They were there in about 30mins of calling which was excellent. The bus was huge, all we had was space. It was a fifty seater I think. So everyone was able to have their own area on the bus so to speak. The ride to the airport was about 30mins.

Flight to London was short and sweet. Pick-up from Croydon Car was waiting for us, everything went smoothly.

The City Inn was an excellent choice for hotel. I truly appreciated the hot pot and tea items in the room as my family loves tea. The rooms and basic interior was excellent. Service was fantastic. Not too happy about the breakfast after having hot meals in Barcelona to cold breakfast in London but we made do. The only hot item on the continental breakfast was toast and tea. They girls were able to get their cold cereal with milk so they were happy with that. A hot breakfast was available for £19.50 which we thought was ridiculous.

WE did have Fish and chips at least three times once at the hotel and twice elsewhere which were all good.

We were able to walk to Buckingham Palace from City Inn (20mins) which was good. We did some shopping on Oxford St and took the kids to Hamleys Toy store where they went crazy.

All in all, no complaints. We are already talking about another trip for 2012.

Thanks for all your assistance Jana, we do appreciate it.

Hi Jana,
We are safely back at home.  The cruise was just awesome and already the gang is speaking
of another in 2012.  I enjoyed Holland America and have been recommending this company
to all of my friends.  The service was amazing and the fact that there were several interesting
ports certainly played a major part.  Even the girls, young and old, enjoyed every aspect of our
12 days aboard the Holland America and the car services were prompt and most accomodating.
We certainly had an excellent cruise planner and she has been and will often be talked about.
We have another group wanting to take a "mini cruise" in August of next year and it has already
been suggested that each individual should contact Jana.  I do believe that the 2012  cruise will
be a lot larger as family members spread the word.  The Citi Inn in London was just lovely.  I
believe the gang also want to give you credit for the beautiful weather as well.

You have the thanks and appreciation of the Fielder family and we will certainly be giving you
a call should we need a mini or maxi cruise.

You did a stellar job, again.

Regards

Giselle

ROYAL CARIBBEAN, ADVENTURE OF THE SEAS, SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN, January 17, 2010

We have enjoyed the Southern Caribbean on board the Adventure of the Seas very much.
We would rate the ship on a scale of 1 - 10 an 8.
The on board service was excellent.
The cuisine was great, my favorite dining area was the Portofino.
The day/evening entertainment on board was enjoyable.
The ports and shore tours were off the chain, our favorite port is St. Martin, because of the shopping.
Jana's Dream Cruises service, as always, was excellent, warm, caring and personal. We did feel well informed and prepared for our vacation.
As for any recommendations to Jana's Dream Cruises what could be improved in the future? Continue doing what you are doing. Job well done.
We wanted to share the above about our overall experience, because others need to come in contact with you and experience your kind and excellent service.

Thank you Ms Bethel,
We all made it home OK. This was a first experience for myself and my partner. We have declared that we will defintely cruise again with you. We anticipate traveling with our party the next time around. Thank you again and Thanks to all of your staff.

We have enjoyed the Southern Caribbean Cruise, the best moment was our first formal night, it was great!
I would rate our balcony room 9 out of 10. We liked this category and it would be our choice on the next cruise again.
The service onboard was to our satisfaction.
The cuisine was enjoyable and the dining room was our favorite.
Evening entertainers were great.
From the ports we enjoyed St. Lucia, the tour guide was very informative, we saw and learned a lot.
Jana's Dream Cruises service was fabulous and I would do it again. We felt well informed and prepared for our vacation. I have to think about if I can suggest any improvements in your service.

Our cruise was wonderful!  Thank you for your assistance.  The service was top-class and the food was great (seasoned and all).  We made some new friends, and we totally appreciated the credit to our SeaPass account - we needed it just for the alcohol - lol.

Thank you for the flowers too!

We are planning a Mediterranean Cruise for 2011, so we will require your service again.

Thanks again.

We did enjoy the Southern Caribbean, the best moment was ziplining in ST. Kitts. It made me want to try bungee jumping!
The ship, Adventure of the Seas was excellent! My favorite spot onboard was the dining Room, by far!
My stateroom, which was a Balcony room was a close second.
Our room was nice. I would definitely choose the balcony category again.
Service onboard - we were satisfied very much.
Excellent cuisine, and the food preparation was great! The main dining room I like the best.
During the days in ports, we mainly did excursioins, however our nights were spent in the club which was nice. I would have liked a better mix of music though.
We did like our ports, the best moment was ziplining in St. Kitts, made me want to try bungee jumping.
Jana's Dream Cruises service has been impeccable!
I did feel well informed and prepared for my vacation.

I loved our Southern Caribbean cruise. Going Zip Lining in St. Kitts was the highlight.
On a scale of 1 - 10 I would rate the Adventure of the Seas a 9.
The club "The Vortex" was awesome.
Our Balcony room was lovely and I would not want anything less next time.
I was satisfied with the service onboard.
The food was fabulous. Reflections dining was incredible, well cooked and seasoned to perfection.
Day entertainment was OK but evening had so much more to offer.
IIn reference to our ports: In retrospect,  I would have preferred to skip on of the 2 Virgin Islands and replace one with another island. However there were plenty of excursions to choose from.
Jana's Dream Cruises service was beyond my expectations.
If I felt informed and prepared for my vacation? Extraordinarily so. I was so pleased that you had checked me in yourself and I had nothing to do but to show up.
If there is anything Jana's Dream Cruises could improve in the future? I honestly can say that I was thrilled with the service and level of attention to detail. You had everything planned and I felt no worries or stress about my vacation.
I do not know anyone who is planning Vacation at the moment, but I would recommend you without hesitation.
I look forward to our Mediterranean cruise next.

Happy Monday Jana!!!!

In order to express our gratitude and appreciation to you for all you have done, please find below our testimonial:

Although this is the first work day of 2010, you continue to work around the clock in order to make us feel special. Many thanks for your thoughtfulness and for your well-wishes expressed in Larry's electronic birthday card. This is just one of the many kind gestures which you have done throughout the time that we have been communicating. From my initial email inquiry i.e. 8 months ago, until this present email, you have delivered "superior customer service" time and time again. You have restored our confidence in travel agents and have enabled us to experience a second honeymoon which is comparable with our first. This is special event was celebrated on an 8-day cruise on the Royal Caribbean - Independence of the Seas, you have proven that one cruise is definitely not enough! Thank you for assisting in making the pre-planning stage apart of our travel experience and not only a preliminary step.

Looking forward to planning our 5th, 10th and 25th Wedding Anniversaries with you :-) May GOD continue to strengthen you and enable you to use your special gift of "making lifetime memories".

Gracias....Merci...Thank-you!!!

Larry & Terah Bowe

Good night, Mrs. Bethel,

Hi Jana,

You never cease to amaze me :-) I am so humbled and so elated to receive those beautiful flower and photo album. One to enjoy GOD's creation and another to store memories. You are truly more than just a travel agent to me. I do not and will not take your hard work and kindness for granted.

It was truly a pleasure meet your husband and to express my appreciation to him for your services. Please let him know that he did a wonderful job tying the ribbon on the photo album.

Take care and GOD bless!! Forever thankful and indebted, T

Hi Jana,
The New England and Canada Cruise was Very Good, however the 14 days might have been a bit long. After our last port day at PEI. the next 2 days at sea seemed very long. I don't know if I have a best moment, but lot's of great memories. All of the ports were great. We enjoyed them all, each one was different and had its own distinctive charm. I think that Carla and I have eaten our fair share of Lobster, broiled, steamed, baked and our favorite the Lobster Roll.
The Constellation is a great ship, very easy to navigate your way around. THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. ROOM STEWARDS AND WAIT STAFF. The Restaurant manager Mario (from Italy) became great friends of ours after we mentioned we were the only couple at our table for 8. He offered to move us next to the Capt. table but we had such great service where we were located we did not move. They made us feel as though we were the only guests in the room and had Private dining every night for 14 nights. The food on this ship is very good probably the best that I have so far on a ship.
Our room O/V veranda was more than adequate, however the ship is showing some signs of ware and tear eg. worn carpets, but overall she is a beautiful ship.
JANA you were right this cruise was FULL OF SENIORS, we definitely were the youngest on this sailing and therefore the nightly entertainment I was not too crazy about. By 10.30pm the ship was Quiet. There was also not much daily entertainment the lectures on port days were not good at all.
My favorite area on this ship was the Persian Garden area, however this area is not as good as the same area on the NCL ship we were on last year (NCL Jewel I think)
Jana your service and advice was Excellent as always however I did get a little excited about receiving paper tickets only a couple days before leaving for NYC. The port reports that you sent were very very helpful, they also saved me a lot money buy not having to book shore excursions through the cruise lines.
Thanks for all your help Jana.

Thanks again Andrew, Celebrity Cruises, Constellation, Canada & New England, September 2009

 Dear Jana,

I am sorry for the late response.  I don't know if you got response from anyone as yet, but I can speak for the family.  The cruise was an excellent experience for the kids as well as the adults.  I am happy that my parents in particulary enjoyed themselves, and we look forward to taking another cruise in the near future.

Thanks again for everything.

Hi Jana

Thank you for everything.  I am not sure how you managed the upgrade but it was very nice.  The girls had a wonderful time, did not want to come off the boat.  For me I think I have been spoilt by RC.  Disney was smaller but on the whole as a family experience it was great.

Thanks again, M. J.  Disney Cruise July 2009

Hi Jana:

I was blown away on Wednesday by the lovely gifts and the presentation of our tickets and other related items.  It was a very pleasant surprise and I can tell you my staff and my boss (who is leaving on a Mediterranean Cruise next Friday) were totally impressed.  Similarly, my husband and my family were totally overwhelmed when I got home.

I have to say you really kicked up the anticipation and excitement factor about our upcoming trip.

Thank you so much for a wonderful experience throughout the planning process and you can count on us as customers and ambassadors for you for life.

Thanks again, D , Mediterranean Cruise June 2009

Hi Jana,

Hi Jana, Thanks for the welcome back. The cruise was wonderful as usual and we both wished we could continue on for another 7 days. I must say that the freestyle dining was very nice and convenient for us, however the food in the main dining rooms seemed to be a bit limited, however we did not seem to miss many meals!!. There is a "private" Thermal Suite located in the spa area, $75pp/wk, with sauna, steam room, whirlpool etc, which I used every day and was GREAT. Never was crowded, felt like you had the whole area to yourself all day, and the Beds are probably the best we have ever had on a cruise.  Thanks for all your help Jana and I wish we can cruise again very soon.
Andrew, Norwegian Pearl, November 2008

Hi Jana,
Thanks for your welcome. Words cannot express our love to you for all you did to make our trip most enjoyable.
As mention of the pick-up at the airport in London, that was only a minor delay and no fault of yours. Things you have no control of is out of your hands and we are aware of that. It was almost unbeliveable and sure a surprise to hear your voice when you call me in Paris. That speaks volume and showed concern on your behalf, upon checking in the hotel we were greeted by staff with words of welcome from you, again you made us feel very special and indeed welcome. the folks were not aware that the train to Paris was first class until we got started and recived top services. You have exceeded our expectation and proven to me to be the best travel agent I have came in contact with during my travels in my life time. Once again many thanks for all your hard work. the trip was excellent
Kervin, Northern Europe group, August 2008

Hi Jana
I really enjoyed the trip imensely.  I was so great to see places I read about from as a child and never thought I would see.  I appreciate the expertise shown in your co-ordinating  our trip.  You did a very good job and I would recommend you to any one who would like to go an a cruise.  My family are thinking about taking one next summer Lord's willing so in time any information you have on rates and best places to see including rates for children will be appreciatec.  Again Thanks for a job well done
Sislyn, Northern Europe August 2008

Hi Jana,

Thanks so much for your mail and your help during our entire trip.  The entire group has nothing but praise for you and your assistance making the cruise such a success.  As a rule,  I don't particularly like cruises and after the third day on a ship I want to jump off - not so this time.  I enjoyed every bit of the twelve days.  The state room was a concern, but it did not disappoint me.  Rachel loved the cruise as well.
The entire group - well most of us are already looking forward to another one in 2010.
The ship was certainly splendid . We could not have done it without your help, direciton and knowledge of how the system works.  I have already been telling my friends of your excellent services. You will certainly be hearing from us again.
Many thanks.
Giselle  August 2008, Nothern Europe
ps.  my husband hates ships, but I would not be at all surprise if he does not accompany us next time if the good Lord wills it.

Good evening Jana,

We are back home after a most enjoyable seven days vacation cruise.  On our first night at dinner we received a birthday cake in memory of Ava. This brought us tears but it was for gladness for the thoughtfulness
We had near perfect weather all the way. Leah spent most of her time in the pool where she met and made some new friends.  We rocommended you to a group who had booked their cruise out of Miami and had some problems with one of the person's visa who had to remain in Miami. We gave them your card and they promised to call when they plan their next cruise. Thanks so very much for your professional service which made our cruise one to remember. As always,                     Herman Coleby, August 6, 2008

Good Morning Mrs. Bethel:
It was sure a pleasure meeting you and I was happy we were able to meet in person, Thanks for everything and I hope that this wont be our last time doing business, but all the best to you and your family.  With lots of love, Barbara,
July 16, 2008  before their Northern Europe group departure

Good Morning Jana,
On behalf of the Inagua group, let me extend our heart most deep gratitude to you for your gifts, that is a surprise. Words cannot express our thanks to you for making us feel so special. Kervin
July 2008, before their Northern Europe group departure

Jana,
I wanted to share this with you. In my Marketing class this semester, one of the questions we had for discussion made me think of you. Here is what I wrote:

Discuss the importance of both people and organizations being passionate about delivering superior customer value.

Recently, while sharing my travel plans with a friend she asked, “Why would you spend extra, on an agent to plan your cruise when you can do it yourself on-line?” My response was, “It’s worth it to me to pay extra to get personalized service. “I do not have to worry about anything, I tell my agent where I want to go, the dates I want to travel and how much I want to spend and she does everything else.”

Personalized service is something I value and whenever I can get it the way Jana’s Dream Cruises can provide it, I take it.   The first experience I had with Jana was a European cruise, my husband and I had planned since our first anniversary so it was important that it was memorable. The word passionate does not begin to describe what I felt from this service provider when she took the time to understand our needs and worked endlessly to make sure it happened. This passion was obviously felt by other clients, we later learned that most of her business is repeat or through word of mouth.

How important is it that both the people and organization are passionate about delivering superior customer value? In the face of increased competition, a global market and the world at your fingertips because of technology, companies such as Jana’s Dream Cruises could not remain in business if they were not passionate about delivering superior customer value with every customer. It is important to the survival and continued growth of the organization.

I really hope you don't mind me using your company but it was the best example I could think of. Thanks for always delivering superior customer value.

Claudia Rolle, April 4, 2008

Hi Jana,
How are you? I hope everything is well with you and your family.  I am writing you to inform you that I referred you to my co-worker who's getting married in March.  He approached me about my honeymoon, and I told him that it was one of the best experiences not only for my wife and myself, but one of the brightest spots during entire wedding process.
I highly recommeded you to him, and ensured him that we will not be disappointed, you are certainly the best, if not, one of the best service provider that I've had to opportunity to work with, and I wish you nothing but the best for you in this new year.  Thank you again!
Gian Smith, January 2008

Morning Jana, I am now back in office after a wonderful cruise! My family really enjoyed it. The boys (all 3 of them) very much enjoyed the Adventure Ocean Clubs (kids' activities). They wanted to go there all day!!!! My mother in law had a wonderful time - this was her first cruise and she is already talking about going on another one. We were all treated well, the food was great, the activities were wonderful (especially the production shows) and everything the ship did was right on schedule. Thanks again for helping us to have a memorable vacation!! Regards, L.M. Adderley
Mildred Adderley and family  9/4/2007

Hi Jana, Thank you for your e-mail. The trip was EXCELLENT! I had a great time. The customer service was awesome. I would definitely use the Carnival cruise family again. Thank you very much for all of your assistance.
Warm Regards, Veronica Jenkins, Carnival Victory   1/20/2007

Hi Jana, The cruise was FANTASTIC!!!! We had a wonderful time and our stateroom was also upgraded. Having a balcony room was wonderful. The ship was magnificent. We would like to thank you for your superb service and indeed we will be cruising again. Our honeymoon was definitely memorable.
Mr. & Mrs Johnson Radiance of the Sea  December 2006

Hi Jana, thanks so much for everything, our answers to your survey as follows: Excellent trip! The most memorable was watching kids ice skate. The kids club programs were wonderful, gave my hubby and me the opportunity to kick back while they played. Food was Excellent (I was pleasantly surprised). Entertainment very good, Service not as good as on Celebrity, but still quite good. Our favorite port was Cozumel. We are planning for the Mediterranean next year. Thanks Lucia and family
Mr. and Mrs. Broughton and family, Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas  10/25/2006

Jana, we had a super, fabulous, great, excellent time, it was just over the moon, I couldn't have a better honeymoon... than we did. Thank you very much for such a great organization and I definitely would not hesitate to do another cruise with you and to recommend you to my family and friends. You are definitely the best and thank you so much from both of us. Celpha
Mr. and Mrs. Sands, Mediterranean Honeymoon 9/10/2006

Dear Jana, Words can not to begin to express our true feelings about our cruise vacation. It was truly a dream come true. The accomodations, our waiters, Cabin stewards, Tour directors were all magnificent. Thank you for arranging a relaxing, and worry free vacation. We will be sure to refer you to our friends and others wishing to cruise on their vacation. Thank you for a magnificent cruise experience in 2006. Sincerely,
Edwin and Virginia Knowles Leon and Catherine Roxborough Ross and Shona Seymour   8/25/2006

Jana, I speak for my sisters and say that this cruise was the best experience in our lives. My sisters can't stop talking about it. Everyone Stacey would come in contact with, she would start the conversation by saying,"girl, let me tell you about the cruise I had". And end with, " you must take this cruise".From my family we say, THANK YOU Jana, for a wonderful experience.
Family Coleby  8/18/2006

Hi Jana! Thank You!!! The cruise was WONDERFUL!I had the best time! It was my first time on a cruise, so I really enjoyed it. They had a lot of activities. I even played a game, I never had a liking for…GOLF (and that was fun)! What was impressive is that every time we exited the room, the attendants came and cleaned it (Heaven) and left animals customized from towels (I love that!). We ate to our hearts content. The evening shows were exciting: Ice skating, comedys, broadway shows, etc. The ship was gorgeous in itself. I’m musically inclined so the musical entertainments really caught my fancy (especially the after hour shows on the 5th floor). The shopping on the ship was another added enjoyed attraction. The different ports St Martin and St Thomas were interesting to see. It made me appreciate Nassau even more though. But we’ve met wonderful people there.Do I want to go back? Oh yeah! We’ll be back next year with a crowd of people. Thank you!Your hospitality will always be remembered.
Monique  Green - Mariner of the Seas Honeymoon 8/11/2006

Dear Jana The trip was fantastic. We truly enjoyed the ship, the tours we arranged and the cities/towns we visited. The seas were smooth, rather cool (but just what we were looking for) and the service on the ship was excellent. Still can't get over the wildlife and beautiful scenery. The first hotel in Vancouver was OK but could not compare with the Airport hotel where we stayed on the way back. All in all it was a wonderful experience, well worth repeating. I have to say the best thing about the whole trip was the outstanding service you provided. Thank you so much. We will be looking at a 14/15 day cruise next year. In any event you can be sure we will contact you to assist with arrangments. Warmest regards, Terry Hilts
Mr. and Mrs. Hilts, Alaska Celebrity Summit 8/11/2006

Jana, thanks for the follow up, you really did an excellent job with the planning of the cruise. Everyone was impressed, everything was excellent. The on board credit came as a surprise to everyone and they all were grateful for it. Thanks again. Will be getting with you very soon to start planning for next year. Ja-Ronn(attached is the Survey) DINING: Excellent. Our waiter was excellent and my parents' and the Storr's busboy was excellent (Personal song bird). The only minor problem we had was we were unable to see the dinner performances.ENTERTAINMENT - Excellent. Always something to do. DAY ACTIVITIES: Excellent. Seems the group enjoyed the casino though. So advice to anyone else, LOCK funds and Sign & Sail Cards away and appoint responsible person to monitor. PORTS: St Martin and St Thomas we enjoyed. St Martin was the most enjoyable. Our tour guide was excellent. JANA'S DREAM CRUISES SERVICE: could not have asked for anything better, and I think I speak for the group.
Mr. and Mrs. JaRonn Jones, Carnival Triumph - Eastern Caribbean  8/9/2006

I must say that I always enjoyed cruising, but I hadn't been on a cruise in a long time, but Jana's Dream Cruises, made my cruise arrangements so easy and informative, that by the time I actually cruise, I felt well prepared and informed, and I have NEVER felt that way about any cruise or trip that I have taken in the past! Jana made me feel like I was the only customer she had. Her personality and professonalism made dealing with travel plans a breeze. I will recommend her to my family and best friends and use her services again when I cruise. THANKS AGAIN JANA!!
Patrice Pinder & Family,  Royal Caribbean - Adventure of the Seas - Southern Caribbean  7/29/2006

Jana's Dream Cruises overall services were nothing less than excellent. The effort put forward to get everything organized was outstanding and efficiently done. All information was very helpful. I commend Jana and her crew for doing a remarkable job. I say to anyone, thinking about visiting Europe: Get booked, get ready, get going! Europe, her beauty, her history and everything else is waiting to offer you a wonderful time, through Jana's Dream Cruises. I would definitely recommend the European trip to others. (details as per Trip Survey feedback)
Mrs. Enid Marie Taylor Shired, European Adventure August 2005

The European trip was surely a pleasure, especially visiting the Vatican. I had a very enjoyable stay in Rome. Celebrity Cruises - Excellent! I must do it again and recommend to others. I certainly enjoyed myself in all ports, Villefrance was especially great, but I found all the tours very good, including London. Jana's Dream Cruises overall services were excellent. Everything was well organized. I was very well informed. I appreciate the great amount of effort put into this. I would encourage anyone to go and seek the efficient services of "Jana's Dream Cruises". A great experience awaits! (details above as per Trip Survey feedback)
Mrs. Ruth Cash, European Adventure Aug 2 - 19, 2005

Let's see...I had many memorable experiences on this European Adventure, but one of them was my visit to the Vatican, where I gazed in amazement at the paintings and spectacular works of Michaelangello. Rome stay was very enjoyable ... Super! The only negative thing about my stay in Rome was that it was too short a time to absorb everything. Celebrity Cruises - Great! Fantastic! I found the Celebrity crew/staff extremely courteous and helpful and thanks to "Jana's Dream Cruises" the "Galaxy" was my "Home away from Home"! The room, dining and entertainment were excellent! My favourite port was Villefranche, but the tour of Naples was also excellent. Mykonos, Greece ..., in fact all the tours were very good and well organized. London - Fantastic! The weather, tours, guides - all great! Again, Jana, Andrew our driver, and Abby, our guide, were great with their organization, planning and information. Jana's Dream Cruises overall services were nothing less than excellent.
Mrs. Enid Marie Taylor Shires, European Adventure July 2 - 19, 2005

This European Adventure trip was by far quite awesome. Not quite sure, which experience was most memorable, treasured and fond memories of all ports visited. Rome stay was excellent, an unforgettable tour of Vatican. Celebrity Cruises would most definitely be my next choice, their overall service was excellent. The ports on the itinerary were all great as well, but my favorite is Villefranche, France. Tour drivers and natives were more friendly and courteous than at any other ports visited on this trip. London, simply Excellent! Jana's Dream Cruises' service unequatted to any experienced before. A very positive experience. Excellent material, good presentation, valuable information. I would encourage anyone to do this without hesitation! (details above as per Trip Survey's feedback)
Mrs. Bernadette Cartwright, European Adventure August 2 - 19, 2005

Jana, the whole experience was great! Most memorable for me, maybe trip to Vatican in Rome. The stay in Rome was excellent, great tours and wonderful overall. Celebrity Cruises - I would definitely choose them again. Our room, the dining was very good. The ports on the itinerary were great too, Villefranche was my favorite! London was another unforgettable experience. Overall, services of Jana's Dream Cruises are by far the best I have experienced ever from a travel representative. I would recommend trip to Europe as "experience of a lifetime" (details above as per Trip Survey's feedback)
Mr. Carlos Steven Cartwright, European Adventure August 2005

We have cruised before with Jana's Dream Cruises, but this was our first trip to Alaska and it has exceeded our expectations. Our Vancouver stay was very excellent, we will come back. The Royal Caribbean experience is GREAT, my wife loves it. My favorite tour was the Helicopter and Dog sleding, my wife enjoyed Skagway, and the most memorable experience for her was the Whale watching. Jana's Dream Cruises' overall service was excellent. I say to anyone, thinking of an Alaska; .... don't think about it, simply do it!!!! It is one, that I will do again! (details above, as per Trip Survey's feedback)

I have enjoyed the whole trip, Royal Caribbean was very good, I would choose them again. My favorite port was Skagway and the tour going up to the mountains. Mrs. Anna Ingraham, Telzena Coakley, Dorothy Lockhart, Vancouver & Alaska July, 2005

The cruise was such an enjoyable experience. It was our first time and we had a blast. The hotel was a great selection. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay there. Great location too! Even with Hurricane Katrina threating our trip and you being off of the island you did an excellent job getting us squared away and keeping us informed. I would just like to say that you did a remarkable job with the whole package and we thank you so very much. Keep up the good work.

Hi Jana, Just wanted to drop a line to say how pleased we were with your services when we engaged you to handle our honeymoon registry in November 2004. We were blown away and must say the cruise was as wonderful as promised and that all the little touches you added were much appreciated. Our guests were all very complimentary of your service and it truly seemed to be as simple as using a traditional registry. Should you ever wish to refer another couple to us or need any referrals at all, we would be more than happy to share our experiences with others. All the best,

Hi Jana: By now you are on your cruise. Thank you so much for the card. We had a lovely vacation on the Adventure of the Seas and the kids in particular had a great time. My son never left the ship but to this day he does not believe he missed anything. It was difficult the first day getting adjusted to the rather cramped quarters of the stateroom (the layout was not the same as in the diagram I saw in the book), but once I made that adjustment it was smooth sailing from there. It was also nice to beable to go out on the balcony especially at nights. I found the information in your Travel Tips book extremely helpful. We followed all suggestions re. luggage, etc. and it was also very convenient to have our documents packaged the way you did. You certainly did your part to ensure we were well prepared. We negotiated for our own tours once we went into port and found the prices to be a lot cheaper than those recommended by the cruise line. Aruba and Curacao were ports we truly enjoyed and would want to visit again. All in all, it was a great experience. The food and service aboard the ship were excellent and I was very relaxed all of the time. So again, thank you for a great job and I look forward to doing business with you again. Hope you're having as good a time as we had. Best regards, Veronica P.S. The roses were a special touch and as a flower lover, I really enjoyed them. Thanks again!

Explorer of the Seas

Hello Mrs. Bethel,
we would like to say to you a sincere thank you. Our honeymoon cruise was worth the seven months delay. As first time cruisers, we did not know what to expect. The Royal Caribbean "Explorer of the Seas" is a magnificent, in our opinion five star floating hotel - with all the amenities. The decor of the ship was unbelievable. Our cabin steward gave us the royal treatment, turn down service, chocolates on the pillow ....
Your service was very professional. We felt as if we have knew you for a very long. You made a great effort ensuring that the cruise line and destinations were enjoyable for both of us.  Once again, thank you for remembering our birthdays and our first anniversary. We will recommend your services to anyone planning a cruise. My husband and I thoroughly agree with the Statement "You have not lived until you have cruised.
Until our next cruise

I always knew that my honeymoon would have to be something special. When we were presented with the idea of a cruise, we were intrigued, but an Alaska cruise was a definite must. Our honeymoon was paid for in full before the first wedding plans were made and otherwise we did absolutely nothing. From beginning to end it was the most wonderful experience highlighted only by our wedding day. We have no regrets and no complaints. We were able to spend all our time enjoying each other instead of running around trying to get arrangements in place, Jana truly out-did herself. We would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you Jana for making this the most wonderful experience in our new life together.

Our visit to the Panama Canal was outstanding and educational. The cuisine onboard especially in the dining room was very good. Our favorite spot was  the casino and we enjoyed the evening shows.
We would gladly recommend Jana's Dream Cruises to all who desire to have a wonderful vacation. Jana look after you in every detail from before, during and after the cruise. Her friendly attitude and concern make us anxious to do business with her because we know that we would be well taken care of at a fair price. We recommend her services highly.

Just cruising and being with my family was very enjoyable. The service onboard was superb, the evening entertainment was my favorite.
Jana's Dream Cruises made my first cruise very special. Jana was helpful, friendly and very business like. I think when I cruise again, it will have to be with Jana's Dream Cruises planning and arranging everything. Thanks a million and may God bless you for all your support, ideas and help.

Alaska 11 day Escorted Cruise-Tour
August 2002 sailing onboard the Legend of the Seas
It's difficult to identify the best moment of my vacation, as the entire experience served as a means for a greater appreciation of God, our Creator. Overall: my room certainly met my expectations, the service onboard was superb, the cuisine was excellent, the entertainment on board was spectacular. I enjoyed very much all of our ports, while learning about new cultures.
The entire experience was certainly a dream come true. Jana's attention to detail and unique ability to make provisions for future events, inclusive of having a contingency plan in place, was most admirable. Going beyond the call of duty to ensure that my birthday was celebrated in grand style even while cruising, is an experience that I will never forget.
Thanks a million Jana for helping to make my dream a reality.

Mr. & Mrs. Patrick Robinson's Message
to Expecting Honeymooners

patrick and patrona oval.jpg

Dear Expecting  Honeymooners,

Early last year, 2002, my fiance and I were at the bridal show looking at all the displays at the various booths and came across "Jana's Dream Cruises". I have always wanted to go on a cruise but never had the time or the money. We met Jana and set up a time to meet her at our convenience. From there on our lives were never the same.

Jana's professionalism, style and dedication speak for itself. She listened to our concerns (e.g. seasickness), our desire for nice rooms at an affordable price (e.g. verandah room with an ocean view) and met each one of them accordingly. She gave us choices whether it was Hawaii, the Mediterranean or the Caribbean. She listened and cared and also met everything within our budget. One of my biggest fears was flying for a very long distance so we sailed on the Rotterdam, Holland America to the Panama Canal leaving out of Fort Lauderdale.

The trip was totally out of this world. We were greeted with complimentary champagne, flowers and a beautiful frame from Jana's Dream Cruises. The staff on the ship was courteous and kind. The food was excellent, 5 STAR all the way. We had  choices varying from pizza to filet mignon and salmon. The restaurants were all unique in their own way. Whether you wanted to dress up for the evening in one of their exclusive restaurants or dress down a little bit and have dinner by the pool was your choice. We also had the option to dine in our rooms, if we did not feel like doing either of the two. There were many different activities on the ship varying from Bingo to Showtime Cabaret at nights. The ship also had a big movie theatre that showed Blockbuster movies which was also another way to relax. We were not so much the gamblers but the Casino was opened all night for those "lucky catchers". The ship had many, many more to offer. We never wanted our honeymoon to end.

We were so impressed with Jana and her ability to listen and work out a cruise that will suit us, that we are going on our second cruise to celebrate our 1st anniversary. Cruising is the best and only way to go. It is affordable and will allow you to visit many different ports at one set price. Take a chance and talk to Jana she will definitely help you meet your Dream Honeymoon!!!

Thank you again Jana for making our honeymoon Dream come true!!!

Yours truly,

Mr. And Mrs. Patrick Robinson

Transatlantic Crossing onboard Cunard - Queen Elizabeth II
June 25, 2003 - July 1st, 2003

I shall not consider using any other travel agent for our next cruise. You
provide a very personal and thoughtful service.
It was everything you promised and more.
Thank you again for the vacation of a life time."
David Reynolds

Transatlantic Voyage - Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds summer 2003

This summer I took my first cruise on the Cunard Liner “Queen Elizabeth II” from New York to Southampton, England from June 25 to July 1, 2003. Img32.jpg

This was not my husband David’s first cruise as he has the distinction of having been one of the passengers on the ship’s maiden voyage in May 1969. Throughout our marriage he has told me what a wonderful experience it had been but somehow we just never got around to taking a cruise together.

We found the experience of setting off on our transatlantic voyage on the QE2 to be absolutely thrilling. Due to an unscheduled late departure we missed dinner on board that first unforgettable evening.

But we would not have wanted to miss that visual experience of sailing down the Hudson River passing the West Side of New York City and seeing the deep canyons that are the streets of New York.

With the amazing Manhattan skyline to our left and New Jersey and Ellis Island on the right (or starboard) side of the ship there was so much to see that we found ourselves dashing from one side of the ship to the other so as not to miss anything.  We eventually said good-bye to the Statue of Liberty and to New York Harbour before sailing under the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge (just barely making it, or so it appeared) and with Coney Island and Long Island fading slowly into the twilight we were off on our adventure.

Missing dinner turned out not to be such a crisis after all because we discovered that we could order a choice of meals from the room service menu in the comfort of our cabin at any time of the day or night.

Our six night voyage on the QE2 was wonderful and even though we were on Deck 5 (one of the lower and least expensive cabins, as QE2 prices go) we were treated royally.  TImg287.pnghe cabin was comfortable and well appointed. Whenever we needed anything we were encouraged to call for Angie our very efficient South African stewardess, who appeared within minutes with a pot of tea, or a plate of lovely exotic fruit…or anything else we wanted!  With an ‘outside’ cabin we did have a porthole although some of the lower priced cabins did not.

I really wanted to be able to see outside and would have felt claustrophobic without a window of some type. David was less concerned pointing out that the cabin was only needed for sleeping and that one of the TV channels actually gave you an outside view from the bridge.  In fact, when we went through the ice fields off Newfoundland —near the where the Titanic sank—as an extra safety precaution the ship’s crew closed off our porthole for 24 hours and yet we survived!

Our dinner seating was in the Mauretania dining room (the early seating) and the food was just exquisite—delicious but with courses small enough that you could have three or even four courses and not feel stuffed.
All the waiters were helpful and gracious—apparently there is a training college on board the ship where the waiters train.  The most inexperienced waiters work in the
Mauretania dining room - but they tried hard to achieve a high standard of service and we thought they were very sweet.

There are two dining rooms for the more expensive cabins - I imagine those waiters must be really polished!  The food is of equal ‘five star’ quality in all the restaurants.  Although we chose the early seating because it suited our travelling companions and we thought that it would allow us more time to enjoy the evening entertainment I would not opt for that again. We found ourselves rushing back to our cabin at 5 to dress for dinner - yes, it is black tie for four out of six evenings, This meant we had to sometimes cut short our daytime activities and we only managed to take the elegant ‘afternoon tea’ in the Queen’s Room once because it really was too close to our 6.30 p.m. dinner time.

The weather was very good for our Atlantic crossing—almost like a Caribbean cruise for the first three days at sea—with calm seas and clear blue skies.  People were sitting on the deck and many of them sunning themselves around the pool.  Since we get as much sun as we want in Nassau we used our days to take advantage of workouts in the gym, exercise classes, trivia quizzes, lectures and movies.

The theme of the cruise was “QE2 Goes to the Movies” so the lectures, by directors, producers and actors (most of whom I must admit I had ever heard of before) were about the plays and movies they had worked on.  They speakers were, for the most part, very interesting, but if my attention span started to run out I found that the high-backed seats in the theatre were so comfortable that it was very easy to take a quick nap while they spoke!  Occasionally I would wake up to see other people in my row also catching 40 winks.

One of the reasons why we seemed to take such frequent naps was because the ship’s clock was turned forward one hour every night at bedtime.  This meant we were going to bed one hour later than we intended to but still getting up early so as not to miss out on exercise and breakfast.  So, although we found ourselves taking little naps onboard ship we arrived in Southampton without a trace of time lag and were  right in synch with the five hour time difference in England.

It was easy to stay up late onboard as every night after dinner there was a good show in the Grand Lounge by the “Broadway Bound” Theatre Company who specialized in presenting all the best song and dance routines from the most popular Broadway Musicals.

There was also a wonderfully talented young pianist featured as well as an English stand-up comedian, both of whom we enjoyed.  After the show there were classical concerts in the theatre or karaoke in the Golden Lion Pub or  a disco in the Yacht Club.  Depending on our mood we went to one of these—some nights all three—you can see why we were tired in the mornings!  We just wanted to do everything!

This is the last summer the QE2 is making transatlantic sailings but she will still do Mediterranean cruises and some other cruises.  Next year the brand new Queen Mary II will be doing the transatlantic sailings—on her maiden voyage the QE2 will sail alongside her.  That is one trip I would like to take!

Jana had thought of everything to the last detail and our trip was completely hassle free.  It was through her assistance and persistence that we obtained a substantial refund off the price of our cruise even after the final payment had been made.

Although we enjoyed the company of the people we met at our dinner table what really helped to make our cruise the true ‘vacation of a lifetime’ was being able to share the experience with old friends of ours and former Nassau residents, Cindy and Murray Woodburn.  We had many laughs together as well as some anxious moments.

Waking up on the sixth day in Southampton docks left us feeling a little sad that the transatlantic voyage had all passed much too quickly but we were cheered by the prospect of a vacation in England and France.  We flew home two weeks later still glowing.  (The return air fare is included in the price of the cruise.)

David now jokes about his two transatlantic voyages by saying that he takes the QE2 to England without fail every 34 years!

We have been left with wonderful memories and now that I’ve completed my first cruise I am well and truly hooked; in fact we are already saving up for Jana’s next Dream Cruise!
