The Panama Canal

An engineering marvel and one of the most significant waterways on earth.

Seeing your ship nudge its way through the narrow canal, with vast tracks of virgin jungle on both sides, is an unforgettable sight.

Sure, it may take only a day to cruise the canal, but the memory, will last a Lifetime!

The Panama Canal is a destination,

an engineering marvel and a rite of passage.

ORANJESTAD, ARUBA

Located on the picturesque southern coast, Oranjestad is the historic Dutch capital of Aruba, where the traditional, tall,
multicolored houses combine carved wooden doors and typical Dutch tiles with open-air patios. The charm of the city
complements the beauty of this popular
Caribbean island where the Dutch and indigenous cultures have merged to
give
Aruba its unique atmosphere.

PANAMA CANAL, PANAMA

The Panama Canal was completed in 1914 under the administration of Teddy Roosevelt at a cost of $533 million,
requiring 35,000 men and 10 years to build. An engineering marvel, no pumps are used in filling or emptying the
locks or "steps" that rise and fall between the two mighty oceans on either side. The Canal saves 13,000 miles of
ocean travel around the tip of
South America for vessels that traverse the 51.7 mile course. It takes 58 million gallons
of water for a single ship to descend the 85 feet from the Pacific to the
Atlantic, and takes a mere 8 hours.

CRISTOBAL PIER, PANAMA

Located in the city of Colón, Panama, Cristobal Pier is best known as a stop on the Panama Canal. But it also offers
visitors a wide range of attractions, including access to both the
Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. In fact, it is
one of the few places where you could  actually go swimming in both bodies of water in the same day. Colón was
established in 1850 by Americans  building the Transcontinental Railroad.

PUERTO LIMON, COSTA RICA

Located on Costa Rica's Caribbean shores, Puerto Limon is one of the nation's largest cities. Columbus stumbled
upon the city in 1502, during his final voyage of discovery.
Columbus discovered this land on his fourth voyage to the
Americas and was so impressed that he named it Costa Rica, or the rich coast. Puerto Limón is overflowing with
natural wonders - towering mountains once thought to house gold and silver, magnificent rain forests containing
more than 2,000 varieties of orchids, and of course, seductive, sun-drenched beaches.

GEORGE TOWN, GRAND CAYMAN

Grand Cayman is one of a group of three magnificent tropical islands Christopher Columbus called "Las Tortugas"
(the turtles) for the sea creatures he found in the ocean water. The designation did not endure, however, for on later
maps the islands were labeled the Caimanau, the Carib Indian word for "crocodile." The name "Caimanas" refers
inaccurately to the iguanas native to the islands, which were perhaps at one point mistaken for crocodiles. Among
other attractions, visitors to the island will enjoy learning about the turtles, visiting the town of
Hell, exploring Seven-Mile
Beach
and enjoying the undersea world.
