Irish Links Description
Following the conclusion of the Ryder Cup,
Irish Links By Sea takes you to the Jack Nicklaus designed Mount Juliet, set in magnificent rolling countryside, the spectacular Old Head Golf Links, the remote and distinguished Waterville Links, and the renowned Ballybunion.
Howth and the Irish Sea. The first five holes away from the sea provide a gentle start, but then the course comes alive as the holes make their way through the dunes back towards the sea. The back nine provides a series of stunning links holes with deep bunkers with steep faces giving the course a traditional look while incorporating modern architectural techniques.
Opened in 1997, this classic seaside championship links course has already received much acclaim. It is now one of the most talked-about courses in the world.
The Old Head is a remarkably dramatic piece of Ireland, protruding over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean. As well as bringing the sea & cliffs into play, you have to contend with the prevailing winds.Nine holes play along the cliff tops, and all eighteen holes provide stunning ocean views. Golfer's paradise and it's scenic beauty has been compared to Cypress Point and Pebble Beach.
The course comprises five par 5's, five par 3's and eight par 4's, the links stretches to over 7,200 yards from the tips and with a minimum of six tees on every hole, provides a stern test for all abilities.

The gardens were begun by Richard Wingfield in the 1740's. The word garden belies the magnitude of this creation, which stretches out over 45 acres. It is a sublime blend of formal gardens, sweeping terraces, statuary and ornamental lakes together with secret hollows, rambling walks, walled gardens and over 200 variations of trees and shrubs.
This evening the Clipper Adventurer will depart Dublin and sail down the eastern coast of Ireland towards the next berth in Wateford.

Non-Golfers will enjoy a visit to the world famous Wateford Crystal Factory. The Visitors Centre Tour gives you an opportunity to witness how the crystal is produced, from molten crystal through to finished masterpieces. Production started in 1783 and the factory is the largest glassworks in the world.

Curraghmore House and Gardens, tha magnificent home of the Marquis of Waterford and his ancestors since 1170. The interior of the house contains exceptionally fine plasterwork. Visits are recommended to the Norman built, 12th century church of St. Multose, the 15th century Desmond Castle housing the International Museum of Wine and the many interesting speciality shops.
Following time in Kinsale,
visits are planned to Blarney Castle, where the gift of eloquent speech is said to be bestowed on all those, who kiss the Blarney Stone, and to Blarney Woollen Mills, where visitors can watch the weaving process.
This evening the Clipper Adventurer will continue its journey around the Southwestern coastline to her anchorage at Valentia Island on the Iveragh Peninsula.
Ring of Kerry

A short zodiac ride will bring passengers ashore at Renard Point on the mainland.
Non-Golfers will be able to tour around the Iveragh peninsula, a dramatically scenic and historic route, commonly known as the Ring of Kerry. The complete route is 100 miles long, but your journey will be broken by many stops, to admire the scenic beauty of the area, that changes dramatically around every corner. Watch how the landscape changes from the "Peat Bogs" to dramatic cliff tops view over the Altantic Ocean.

Then onto Bunratty Castle & Folk Park.
Illustrating country life in Ireland at the turn of the century, when the old agricultural practices were giving way to the modern era.

The Clipper Adventurer is a handsome expedition vessel reminiscent of the days of the great ocean liners, with lots of varnished wood and brass. She sails on a wide variety of voyages — in Europe, the Canadian Arctic, the U.S., South America, and Antarctica.
Built in 1975 as the Alla Tarasova in the former Yugoslavia, the 122-passenger M/S Clipper Adventurer underwent a $13-million conversion in 1998 in Scandinavia, and features 61 comfortable, all-outside cabins, with lower beds, private bathroom facilities, and individual temperature controls.
The window-lined dining room seats all passengers at leisurely single seating,
where superb American and Continental cuisine
is served by Clipper’s friendly staff.
There are two lounges — the Main Lounge and Bar on Promenade Deck, seating 130 passengers; and the Clipper Club, also on Promenade Deck, seating 45 passengers. There’s also a library/card room, a small workout room, a gift shop, and a hair salon.
Unique to the Clipper Adventurer is a spacious, covered promenade with a beautiful wooden deck (varnished Oregon pine) where passengers can view the seascapes.
There’s also plenty of open deck space on the Boat Deck and Sun Deck, while an observation platform located forward below the Bridge is ideal for wildlife viewing.
The Clipper Adventurer is an oceangoing vessel equipped with an ice-strengthened hull (A-1 ice class) ideally suited for cruising in remote environments such as Antarctica, but supremely comfortable anywhere she sails. A fleet of Zodiac landing craft provides access to areas where no infrastructure exists. The vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art satellite navigation and communication equipment including telephone, fax, and e-mail.
The Captain and his officers maintain an open bridge to give passengers an opportunity to observe and ask questions. An experienced cruise staff, physician, and onboard lecturers accompany all voyages to enhance the passengers’ enjoyment of the places visited.
